Drug Alert

Advice from Detective Sergeant Thayanithy (28th February 2009)

After recent drug raids across Northampton Detective Sergeant Gan Thayanithy said "We would urge people in the community to be vigilant and to be on the look out for signs that a cannabis factory is in operation near them.

"Some of the things to watch out for are houses in darkness during the day, homes with blacked out windows, people coming and going at strange times during the day and night and strange smells coming from the property.

"Anyone who has any suspicions should get in touch with police immediately."

Semilong Neighbourhood Watch would like to add to this appeal. If you have any information that could help the police in regard to drugs or any crime then please contact us or contact the police directly on 101 or 999 if urgent.

Drugs In Our Community

As you know, drugs are NEVER something we should turn our backs on. Drugs can be addictive, even cannabis and many people commit crime in order to get the cash to pay for drugs. There is also the side issue of dirty needles being left lying around the Semilong Community, as what happened recently when some were found outside Castle School.

For that reason, if you know anything about drugs in our community, please let the police know, let us know, or tell Crimestoppers.

This is an issue which must be tackled.
