[NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COMMUNITY MESSAGING - Northamptonshire West - 21.12.09 - WB/CMS/1749/09 - ALL NHW - OP GUARDIAN]

This is a message from Northamptonshire West Police to all members of Neighbourhood Watch in Northamptonshire.

In the latest chapter of the police crackdown on acquisitive crime, officers conducted a series of early morning raids on Friday 18 December across Northamptonshire.

As part of Operation Guardian, since this morning, officers have conducted a number of raids in the county, targeting people believed to be involved with drugs, stolen goods as well as serious acquisitive crime.
Officers supported by Trading Standards, Customs and Excise and the Crown Prosecution Service came together in partnership to take action against offenders.

So far, thirteen search warrants have been executed across the county, resulting in 11 people being arrested and one caution being issued.

Officers seized a range of property, including significant amounts of cannabis, a motorcycle, 3000 cigarettes, 4,500 fake DVDs, tools, a laptop and projector and a vehicle.
This has been the culmination of intensive police investigations, community intelligence, and successful partnership working.

As well as the enforcement phase of the impact day, officers will also be patrolling throughout the day, offering crime prevention advice, issuing Operation Guardian literature, reassuring the public and patrolling vehicle crime hotspot locations.

Some of the action from the day, captured on body worn video equipment by an officer executing a search warrant can be now be viewed at www.northants.police.uk by clicking onto the Operation Guardian page, or at http://www.youtube.com/northantspolice.

Speaking on the activities so far Superintendent Pete Windridge, said: "Today's operation has been the result of a skilfully planned and effectively executed day of action to significantly reduce acquisitive crime, anti-social behaviour, as well as increase public trust and confidence.

"The all out day, including all members of the policing family from police officers, special constable and PCSOs to inspectors, superintendents and area commanders has proven successful - in excess of 200 officers are involved in today's activities.

"Northamptonshire Police and local authority partners continue to listen to communities and understand what concerns them. The high impact day is about us demonstrating how we are addressing their concerns and providing solutions to problems. It is also an example of how we are acting on information they are providing us about those detrimentally affecting their quality of life."

"If anyone has information they think is important, they can contact us on 101, they can give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via an intelligence form on the Operation Guardian page on the force website www.northamptonshire.police.uk/guardian."

Thank you
