[NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COMMUNITY MESSAGING - Northamptonshire West - 18.12.09 - WB/CMS/1728/09 - ALL NHW]

This is a message from Northamptonshire Police to all members of Neighbourhood Watch in Northamptonshire.

Snow conditions have made travelling in the rush hour a challenge for motorists with some collisions across the county.

At present the situation is more problematic in north and eastern parts of the county.

A road traffic collision has led to problems on the A605 near Oundle and there have also been problems on the A509 between Redhill Grange, Wellingborough, to the A14 roundabout at Kettering. The A6003 is also blocked near to the Oakley Hay roundabout.

At the moment there are no reports of serious collisions but the snowy conditions are making the roads more difficult than usual to drive.

Motorists are being urged to leave plenty of time for their journeys and drive appropriately for the road conditions. Please take care on the roads around the county, stick to main routes that are well gritted where possible.

Drugs In Our Community

As you know, drugs are NEVER something we should turn our backs on. Drugs can be addictive, even cannabis and many people commit crime in order to get the cash to pay for drugs. There is also the side issue of dirty needles being left lying around the Semilong Community, as what happened recently when some were found outside Castle School.

For that reason, if you know anything about drugs in our community, please let the police know, let us know, or tell Crimestoppers.

This is an issue which must be tackled.
