This is a message from Northamptonshire West Police to all members of Neighbourhood Watch in Northamptonshire West.
Please be aware that from 5 October to 1 November, 'Support Direct', a company which undertakes charity fundraising for a number of well know charities, will be making house to house calls to raise funds in Northampton.
These fundraisers will be asking for donations via direct debit, this is a method to safeguard the fundraisers as they do not collect cash. Support Direct fundraisers will carry identification and be happy to show this to you. If you would like to verify that the fundraiser at your door is genuine, please call the helpline number on 0800 031 9811 or 0800 018 3584.
Please remember, 'If you're not sure, DON'T open the door', you are never required to open your door, it's not rude to send callers away.
If you are concerned about a caller at your door or suspect that distraction burglars or rogue doorstep traders are operating in your community, please call our dedicated Doorstep crime Action Network (DAN) number 0345 23 07 702.
