[NORTHAMPTONSHIRE COMMUNITY MESSAGING - Northamptonshire West - 29.07.09 - WB/CMS/426/09 ALL]

This is a message from Northamptonshire West Police to all residents in the Northamptonshire area.

The Northamptonshire West Burglary Team is re-launching Operation Renegade to get burglars on the run in Northampton. The team will be homing in on prolific offenders and focussing their attention solely on dealing with burglary and known burglars.

Police will be acting quickly on all information gathered about people who are committing burglary and will be going all out to disrupt their criminal activities in every lawful way possible.

Northamptonshire Police needs the support of residents to tackle burglary, you can play your part by ensuring your house is kept locked and secured. We are still seeing a number of insecure burglaries, so remember it costs nothing to turn the key to prevent it, they're not called locks for nothing.

The Home Office has set up an online scorecard, which lets you see how secure your home is. Log on to http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/crime-victims/how-you-can-prevent-crime/secure-your-home/ and give it a go. Once you've answered all the questions some tailored advice will follow, this should give you some good and useful tips.

Drugs In Our Community

As you know, drugs are NEVER something we should turn our backs on. Drugs can be addictive, even cannabis and many people commit crime in order to get the cash to pay for drugs. There is also the side issue of dirty needles being left lying around the Semilong Community, as what happened recently when some were found outside Castle School.

For that reason, if you know anything about drugs in our community, please let the police know, let us know, or tell Crimestoppers.

This is an issue which must be tackled.
